Explore the TrailAbout the Heritage Trail
The 384th Bombardment Group Museum Heritage Trail is a series of information boards located on the permissive pathways within Grafton Park Wood. They portray the history of certain areas of the former airfield of which remnants can still be seen today – we hope the boards tell the story of the sites that you visit.
Grafton Park Wood is part of the Boughton Estate, with whom the Museum has worked closely to bring this special project to fruition. We hope our visitors enjoy both the history of the airfield located within the woodland, and also the woods themselves which pre-date the airfield by hundreds of years.
Using the Trail
- Follow the permissive pathways through Grafton Park Wood to find the information boards.
- Scan the QR code on each board to open a more in depth article on that site.
- Each article includes pictures, stories and diagrams to bring the area to life.
Access to the Woods
Please note that the pathways through the woods that are accessible to the public are permissive routes, and not public footpaths. As such, please be aware that from time to time the woods will be closed for forestry activities during which public access is prohibited.
The Heritage Trail will always be accessible on Museum open days through the year. See upcoming open days.
For further information, please contact the Museum via our Contact Us form.
